I know this does not totally pertain to lighting, but I didn’t know where to put it. I was wondering what company (s) were in charge of the production and technical aspects of the presidential inauguration. It seems to me like one of the most in depth events ever held, well next to the Olympics and such……. I was just wondering. It sounds like a pretty cool event to be a part of!

Compared to the 2008 Olympics, this was child's play. **** those were amazing.

And I'm not going to start a political debate. But I wish Obama and his family a prosperous and safe term in office. And so should you, regardless of political affiliation

On the topic of lighting, I noticed while searching the web for tech specs/pics of the inauguration some odd shaped moving lights for the 'We are One' concert. My best guess was that they looked like syncrolites, but I can't be sure. Can anyone with more experience in the Large Moving Light world offer some guidance there?
Two best pictures I could find:

    Thanks.

Fairly certain the fixtures in question are Alpha One Falcon 6000 units.

They used some of those in the first presidential debate also (unexpectedly, when inventories fell short). LD liked 'em. Was in the most recent Lighting & Sound America.

we have done things for the white house before, and weird requests for things are about the norm, along with having ridiculously big bright lighting in the middle of the day, and even more at night.

The observant viewer, more interested in the lighting than the show, will have noted that, just like last year, there was a boatload of these fixtures used during Mr. Springsteen's interval performance on some type of sporting event today.

I was right in the heart of things for the inauguration. I'll be happy to share my photos with anyone that would like to see them. Feel free to email me at [email protected].
I was located at the Newseum for the entire weekend covering events. Here is one of the 600 photos I took...
