Description
The Performing Arts Center Technical Director coordinates and schedules the use of the Auditorium and Black Box Theaters to enhance the educational and cultural programing of the District and the community;
Serve as the point person for all PAC related events and scheduling for the High School, the District, the community at large, and outside organizations. This is for the PAC Auditorium and Black Box Theater.

Tasks include:
1. Respond to inquiries or requests for use or information.
2. Serve as an administrator in the School Today calendar system.
3. Approve all schedules for all events in the Auditorium and Black Box.
4. Provide tours and estimates of PAC facilities to prospective users.
5. Meet with prospective users to draft contracts.
6. Implement fee schedule with district administration.
7. Calculate chargebacks and complete invoicing in the School Today system.
8. Review and make recommendations for PAC policies, procedures and use agreement
9. Explain policies and procedures for use.
10. Meet with teachers, staff, administrators, and committees regarding use of the PAC.

Manage facility use, preparation and setup for events at the PAC.
1. Assist in set-up and preparation for use of the PAC facilities.
2. Instruct in safe use of equipment, prepare sound system, set and focus lighting, train in use of stage manager’s console, prepare front of house (lobby, box office, etc.)
3. Schedule HVAC for all rehearsals and performances
4. Work with the Head Custodian to schedule all doors, lights and cleaning.
5. Arrange for additional equipment as needed; arrange for preparation of orchestra pit
6. Advise and consult with users on possibilities for enhancing their events in the PAC
7. Monitor events to assure safety and appropriate use
8. Respond to unforeseen and emergency needs of users

Supervise and schedule personnel
1. Manage a part time staff of roughly 10 employees; both adults and students.
2. Approve all time sheets in Skyward

Participate in budget planning and oversight.
1. Propose and maintain budget for facility use.
2. Respond to questions about billing.
3. Deposit funds in appropriate accounts.
4. Plan for equipment purchase, replacement and repair.
5. Some Box Office Management and Oversight

Maintain PAC equipment and facility in good working order.
1. Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility and systems to ensure safe functioning of all
2. Repair or replacement of worn out, unsafe or damaged equipment.
3. Scheduling preventive and routine maintenance.
4. Maintaining adequate supply of specialized consumables such as lighting gels.
5. Purchase new capital equipment using proper procedures and funds.

Serve as technical Director For MHS Theatre and Stage Crew Clubs
1. Design and Build 5 or more MHS Theatre shows each year.
2. Attend all load ins, technical rehearsals, and shows- approx. (12-15 weekend days each year)
3. Lead the MHS Stage Crew Club - currently meeting 4-6 pm Tuesday & Wednesday, or under direction from the show director.
4. Supervise all areas that are part of Stage Crew (scene shop, green room, storage, etc.)
5. Safely instruct all interested students in the use of PAC equipment: Lights, Sound System, Projections, Shop tools, etc.

Work with Middleton City Rec to provide support for the Summer Drama Program
1. Help supervise the Props and scenery class 2 days a week
2. Coordinate rehearsals for the summer drama program.
3. Serve as technical director / supervisor for the Summer Drama Performances

ASSOCIATED FUNCTIONS:
1. Attend required meetings and participate actively in any work group, training or related management assignments.
2. Provide periodic reports of PAC use to committees, administration and the Board of Education
3. Establish new procedures and policies as needed.
4. Maintain knowledge of procedures, equipment and software used to perform duties, such as lighting and sound equipment, specialized control panels, ticketing, crowd control, MS Word, MS Excel, E-mail, calendar software, Internet; and office equipment such as copier, calculator and telephone system

Qualifications
1. Two-year or four-year (desired) in theater/performing arts management or a related field.
2. Experience in theater production/management.
3. Educational approach to working with students
4. Knowledge of and experience working with theater equipment.
5. High level carpentry skills are preferred.
6. Ability to develop positive constructive relations with students, staff and public.
7. Ability to work flexible hours.
8. Bilingual skills are preferred.

PHYSICAL:
This job is classified as medium/heavy work with the possibility of constant to occasional standing and walking/moving throughout the work site depending on day to day tasks. There is frequent pushing/pulling exerting forces up to 70 pounds. There is frequent bending/stooping and lifting up to 50 pounds. There is occasional sitting, squatting/crouching, climbing, crawling, reaching, kneeling, lifting up to 100 pounds, and repetitive movements with both hands. Verbal and auditory communication is frequently utilized. Near and far vision acuity, depth perception, accommodation, field of vision, and feeling are frequently utilized.

ENVIRONMENT:
Occasional exposure to high noise levels and exposed high places.
 
Why aren’t you taking it? Especially since you are the interim.

I’ll put the word out for sure.
 
I really enjoy my current job and would prefer to remain there long term.
And while I can design and build sets, that is not my strong suit.
 
Closing the loop, I was informed earlier last week that this position has been filled.
