Control/Dimming Picking out a new light board.

Yiou have really confused me. Are saying the FOH instruments that lights your front wash is part of your houselights? If so you need to explain what type of front lighting you have, how it is controled and can you focus them.
It's sounding more like you need a professional to go in and totally redesign your space.

No no no, Obviously the spots aren't tied into the house lights. xD I meant that, the lights that light the proscenium wall are part of the houselights. Every row of houselights can be controlled individually, so if we want a proscenium lighting, mostly only in concerts, we can have it.

Hey everyone! Little update. My other friend, he helps a lot with equipment and the actual placements of the lights and gets on the ladder to move FOH spots and what not talked to me today and told me he got permission from the school to get a few fixtures ^_^ Also, he was at the school today and he told me he looked at the color strips and realized the Roundels are all scratched and bearly see through 0.0. So he went to the store and got a new roundel to test and he said the difference was amazing. So thats good, we are going ahead and buying all new roundels, so now we can have a much netter colored lighting, aswel as getting new fresnels for a wash.

So anyways, I dont know when we are doing it yet. But soon we are going to be going through the theatre and "ripping it up", we are going to take down all the lights, clean the flys, get all the dang fake snow from two years ago (xD), clean all the dust off everything, steam clean the curtains, clean all the lights, and if we feel something needs to be replaced or needs a new roundel or gel, it will eb set aside, and once we fix any problems and get some new fixtures, we are calling in the guy who worked in the theatre beforw I came, He is sort of professional, so, me, the sound op, the guy I was tlaking about, and him will be sitting down to map out were each light will go and then after thats drawn up, set the lights back up. So, I will keep you updated on that :)

Roundels by definition are glass, and therefore difficult to scratch. If yours are glass, could they just be dirty? in which case a trip thru a dishwasher will do nicely. They do make thick plastic color filters as well as gel. Most Altman R40 strips have a combination gel frame that can hold either glass roundels or gel.
steam clean the curtains,
Be careful with this, see http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/facility/12719-advice-cleaning-traveller-curtains.html, http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/general-advice/8194-firecode.html, and http://www.controlbooth.com/forums/stage-management/5632-cleaning-curtains.html. Is there a label stating Compliance with Fire Retardancy sewn onto the drapes?

You may be mistaking pebbling for scratching. Pebbled roundels have a rough texture to the glass to spread the light. If you put in the clear roundels instead of pebbled ones, you may not have the necessary coverage.

Okay, we will try cleaning them to see if their as good as the new one.

And yes, we will look about for the cleaning label before cleaning.

No, they aren't pebbled ones, just plain ones. :)

Hi everyone, I just popped into the school today to grab something from a teachers room and ran into the theatre, no time for pics or anything, but I did notice I have a baaad memory. Turns out, we have 3 color strips, 11 fresnels, and 5 far cycs xD Sorry for misinformation.

Also, looks like we are getting a new main curtain... the janitors, I asume, tied up both sides of the curtain with a METAL BAND. Like, a thin, bednable pointy metal strip. The curtain is so crimped its not funny, we had to un-crimp a pretty small thing on one side once it took FOREVER and didnt od a good job, and besides the huge deep crimps, they are all layed in rust from the metal. I am bringing it up with the administrator immediatly, I untied the metal but kept it there for some proof.
